Meet Jeff

Jeff Le is Managing Principal at 100 Mile Strategies LLC and best known for his work at the intersection of emerging technology policy and politics at every level of government - city, county, state, federal, and global. In public service, Jeff was Deputy Cabinet Secretary for California Governor Jerry Brown where he covered an expansive portfolio that included homeland security and natural disaster response, cybersecurity, emerging technology, AI, privacy, blockchain, telecom, financial services, future of work, immigration, economic development, agriculture, military, veterans, and tribal affairs. Jeff was also the state’s point person on tracking policy developments and fiscal implications for the first Trump Administration, including state negotiations for disaster relief from three historic fires and a megadrought.

Prior to his Cabinet role, Jeff was Governor Brown’s Deputy Director for External and International Affairs, where he interfaced with advocacy groups, drove third-party engagement across multiple coalitions, and convened foreign dignitaries on behalf of the state.

Outside of public service, Jeff has been an executive tech policy and government affairs leader serving as a Washington, DC Head of Office for three different tech companies, two which were venture-backed high-growth pre-public companies, and oversaw a portfolio of all 50 states, Canada, the U.S. Federal Government, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia and the Pacific.

In these roles, Jeff helped sales leaders, technical subject matter experts, and corporate executives understand the public sector – the legislative and regulatory process, appropriations and the budget, thought leadership, third-party coalition-building, procurement, and sales enablement.

Jeff volunteers in public service roles and serves on the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board, Maryland’s Advisory Council on Health and Wellness, and as a gubernatorial appointee to Governor Wes Moore on the Assistive Technology Loan Program Board of Directors, which provides low-to-no interest loans to empower persons with disabilities and their families.

Jeff’s early career included formative stints at the State Department, U.S. House of Representatives, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, United Nations, Carter Center, and the National Democratic Institute.

A recognized thought leader in political commentary, his analysis and opinions have been featured on MSNBC, broadcast television in 40 states, as well as in print at POLITICO Magazine, The New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post, FOX News, The Hill, Washingtonian, Roll Call, Bustle, Forbes, and local and regional newspapers in 35 states.

Jeff graduated from the University of California, San Diego and received his graduate degree as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar at Central European University. He is a Visiting Fellow at the National Security Institute at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School and has been selected for bilateral leadership programs to the European Union, NATO, Germany, the UK, Spain, Italy, Japan, and Israel. Jeff has completed four 100-mile running races, qualified for the Boston Marathon, has been to every Major League Baseball ballpark, all 50 states, and 85 countries.
